Additional info/contents Robert Stolz succeeded in composing three of his most beautiful and unforgettable songs in the middle of the First World War. "Im Prater blüh'n wieder die Bäume" - he composed the song in May 1916 to a text by Kurt Robitschek. In the spring of the previous year he had invented a no less beautiful melody to the words of Wilhelm Sterk: "Vienna becomes beautiful at night". And in the sad spring of 1918, despite all the gloom of the long lost war, he once again conjured up the most Viennese mood imaginable with a poem by Arthur Rebner: "This is spring in Vienna...". "Im Prater blüh'n wieder die Bäume" ("In the Prater the trees are in bloom again") was also the title of a film released in 1958 with music by Robert Stolz.

Programme notes: additional text

Im Prater blüh'n wieder die Bäume (subtitle: Der Erbprinz) is a 1958 Austrian romance film directed by Hans Wolff and based on the stage play Die Sachertorte by Siegfried Geyer and Rudolf Österreicher. The main roles are played by Johanna Matz and Gerhard Riedmann.

Robert Stolz used many of his popular earlier compositions in the film music, which were the reason for the film's success, including the Viennese song Im Prater blühn wieder die Bäume (Text: Kurt Robitschek) from 1916. Overall, the film contains autobiographical elements in the person of Toni Reitmeier, such as his earlier work as a répétiteur and his composition studies with Robert Fuchs.
